Dear artist
the committee si requesting the artist to project open air installations. Once received, the projects will receive a first evaluation form the jury, basically under an aestethic point of view and respect of the proposed theme. Therefore, the remaining project will have to face a feasibility phase, in which the artist and the committee will actively cooperate. In this phase, normally all aspects on fire and water proofing (plus staticity and public safety) are closely defined. All projects realized in the past years were water and fire proofed.
As a standard, we invite all artist to project without limits, following their sensibility inspiration and creativity.
The contest in Cartasia has always been for open air exhibits: this is the phylosphy of the projects. To invade public space and have the audience meet the contemporary art, without entering an indoor space. Therefore all projects for the contest will have to face a feasibility phase, where the installations/sculptures will be analyzed under a tecnical point of view.

Dear Artist, on the following link (google maps) you'll find some of the places the organizing committee have chosen as preferred to install the selected projects.
Please remember the artist can propose a place where to install his/her project, but it's the jury that finally decides where the installation it's placed.

Please be aware on Google Maps you can always have you can activate the "Google street view mode" by putting the stylized man over the zoom of the map on the chosen places. You'll immediatly will have several possibility to visualize the place and photos of the environment and also to do a virtual trip on the area. To see next area simply chose one of the green dot on the left of the map.

More than this, by clicking on each green dot, you'll see a link to a photo.

Cartasia 2012 is the sixth contemporary art Biennial, mainly focused on the uses of paper: it's held in Lucca, Tuscany, Italy.

Two are the guidelines of the Biennial.

a) A contest/simposium, open to all artists that wish to face the challenge of working on a monumental scale a piece of artwork made of cardboard or paper, on an open air exhibition. The contest's rules are online, to participate the login on the site is mandatory.
